And, when they come across something that requires attention, are they fully prepared to advocate on your behalf to resolve the concern?  If they are your only strategy for watching over your home, consider the amount of risk, responsibility and stress you are placing on a neighbor before you rely solely on them to watch over your home. That neighborly favor may turn into a burden they aren't equipped to handle.
